Honest Tea also invested into a program called the TerraCycle Juice Pouch Brigade which collects children's juice pouches and turns them into upcycled products like totes and bags. Honest Tea collected over 182 million juice pouches in 2013.
To provide laboratories with effective solutions to mitigate waste, Kimberly-Clark Professional (KCP), Roswell, Ga., teamed with TerraCycle to offer RightCycle, a large-scale recycling effort for nontraditional cleanroom waste.
Have you heard of TerraCycle? They make products that are of high-quality, all-natural, affordable, and made of recycled materials. Yes they diverted over two billion pieces of trash from going to the landfill. What a great idea and they have now partnered with the USPS.
TerraCycle’s entire line of products comes from recycled materials and can be found at Uncommon Goods. I received a dopp kit for my husband. He usually throws his toiletries in a plastic bag when we head out of town, but now he has a kit to store everything in and it’s made from upcycled tent material.
Waste minimization is a large part of laboratory cleaning and decontaminating—after all, the less waste there is, the less risk of contamination. To provide laboratories with effective solutions to mitigate waste, Kimberly-Clark Professional (KCP), Roswell, Ga., teamed with TerraCycle to offer RightCycle, a large-scale recycling effort for nontraditional cleanroom waste.
This gorgeous evening dress, designed by Christina Liedtke, took over 600 M&M wrappers and 1,800 flower designs to create. It was featured at TerraCycle’s Greenup! Popup Shop in New York City in 2010.
There are companies that do this, too. TerraCycle, a global firm based in Trenton, NJ, is focused on recycling everything from worm poop (into fertilizer) to cigarette butts (into plastic pellets). It upcycles and recycles traditionally non-recycable waste (including drink pouches, chip bags, and tooth brushes) into a large variety of consumer products.
The winner is L’Oreal USA - Garnier for its beauty brigade programme which diverts beauty packaging from landfill. Working with Terracycle, the programme has collected 2.5 million pieces of packaging waste and upcycled it into new products.
TerraCycle works with Garnier to offer a 100% free program that allows salons to collect most beauty product packaging regardless of brand! There are few limitations (no aerosols please) so check out
www.terracycle.com/brigades to see the Beauty Brigade and other free recycling programs.
So, from now on, instead of tossing items into the trash, have your child bring them to school to earn Terracycle Points for our school. If you send these items in a plastic bag, we will send the bag back for you to reuse or recycle.
