In partnership with the Nashville Clean Water Project, the Bridgestone Arena, home to the Nashville Predators, has signed on as partners of TerraCycle’s Cigarette Waste Brigade®, and will become one of the first venues in North America to collect and recycle used cigarette butts.
Rethinking what is trash is key to TerraCycling. TerraCycling is a concept that is less then 10 years old but has spread to more than 20 different countries and is now rooted and growing in the local Lincoln County community.
TerraCycle’s entire line of products comes from recycled materials and can be found at Uncommon Goods. I received a dopp kit for my husband. He usually throws his toiletries in a plastic bag when we head out of town, but now he has a kit to store everything in and it’s made from upcycled tent material.
The discarded butts will be sent to TerraCycle, a New Jersey-based company that collects difficult-to-recycle products and repurposes them. Koop said other cities such as Santa Monica and organizations like Surfrider have expressed an interest in borrowing the eater meter to launch their own collection programs.
