Em uma iniciativa pioneira no Brasil, Coppertone lança, em parceria com a TerraCycle, um programa de coleta que permitirá a transformação de embalagens de protetores solares descartadas em matéria-prima novamente, substituindo material virgem e evitando que mais recursos naturais sejam extraídos.

Este projeto está sendo realizado pela direção do Colégio Pereira Lima juntamente com os professores, funcionários e por todos os alunos do colégio.Estamos em parceria com a Terra Cycle para garantir que algumas embalagens que você consome vão para o lugar certo, sem fazer mal para o planeta. A Terra Cycle é uma empresa que faz a coleta das embalagens usadas e a partir de um processo inovador, estas embalagens são transformadas em materiais que podem ser novamente utilizados pela indústria, reduzindo o lixo e colaborando para a preservação do planeta.

TerraCycle is een innovatief recycling bedrijf dat gespecialiseerd is in het organiseren van inzamelingsacties van afval dat moeilijk te recyclen is (bijvoorbeeld kauwgom, luiers en chipszakjes). Momenteel is TerraCycle in 20 landen actief en worden er meer dan 60 verschillende soorten afval ingezameld. Gesponsord door pennenfabrikant BiC zijn ze in Europa gestart met het inzamelen van alle soorten schrijfwaren. In 2012 zullen er nieuwe soorten afval bij komen. Rol MR en OR Heeft uw school geld nodig voor een specifiek project of heeft uw school het voornemen een goed doel te steunen? Informeer het bevoegd gezag over deze bijzondere actie. De MR kan aan het bevoegd gezag een ongevraagd advies geven of zelfs een voorstel doen om aan deze actie mee te doen. De OR kan voorstellen om de organisatie van deze actie op zich te nemen. Strauss Group Ltd. reported double-digit revenue and profit growth for the third quarter of 2011, despite the summer's social protest and its demand for lower prices. Revenue rose 13.8% to NIS 2.01 billion from NIS 1.77 billion for the corresponding quarter of 2010, while organic sales growth, net of exchange rates effects, was 12.2%. Domestic sales rose 9% to NIS 750 million from NIS 688 million

In another effort to “go green” at Wilkes, the Students for Environmental Sustainability club has recently initiated a sustainability collection project called TerraCycle using this process of “upcycling.” Junior Environmental Engineering majors and SES club presidents Katie Cirone and Lizzie Helsel say that TerraCycle is a company that creates and manages collection systems for a variety of hard-to-recycle waste products, such as chip bags, gum wrappers, drink pouches, writing utensils, Ziploc baggies and other items. Tom Szaky, creator and CEO of TerraCycle, had the idea that instead of recycling waste, it could be upcycled and used for another purpose. Cirone explained how upcycling is different than recycling.

To bring awareness to this issue on America Recycles Day, Garnier (yup, the beauty brand) and upcycling/recycling pioneer TerraCycle are sponsoring the Personal Care and Beauty Brigade. All your hair care, skin care and cosmetic packaging, regardless of brand, can be collected and sent to TerraCycle, free of charge. The company specializes in recycling difficult-to-recycle materials, so you can rest assured that they will be made into brand new products. And bonus, for every piece of waste that TerraCycle receives from you, you are awarded two points.
