TerraCycle
Upcycling and recycling, this company has some products that are just uber neat. Making eco-friendly products from the upcycling and recycling of common everyday items which otherwise would be tossed into landfills.
These items are great for families and kids. Coolers made from recycled chip bags or from Capri Sun juice pouches, even portable mini-speakers. How cool is that? If you’re looking for a hostess gift I would certainly suggest checking here because TerraCycle really offers unique products.
If you want to go a step farther and introduce these methods to your kids then do not overlook their DIY upcycling projects that can be done together. Family time! TerraCycle goes beyond this with a wide variety of gifts – gifts for anyone!
I personally adore the TerraCycle MP3 Speakers are just the neatest things, upcycled (of course) from candy wrappers and/or chip wrappers. Cost? Not insanely priced. You can purchase the speakers for $13.99.
Albe Zakes is constantly surrounded by a shrine to garbage. The desks in his office are made from old doors, the walls from soda bottles, and the front showroom covered in recycled Astroturf. The desk dividers are made from vinyl records, and graffiti covers every wall.
But considering his job, the workplace makes sense: he’s in charge of media relations for TerraCycle Inc., which sells consumer products made from recycled waste. The company launched in 2001, selling worm poop as fertilizer to retailers like Home Depot and Wal-Mart. Now, TerraCycle recycles items like Frito-Lay chip bags, Clif Bar wrappers, and Capri Sun pouches to create tote bags, iPhone cases, and MP3 speakers.
Boughton said a major contributor to the Co-op’s recent growth is their recent partnership with New Jersey based recycler, TerraCycle.
TerraCycle’s purpose is to eliminate the idea of waste. With more than 14 million people collecting waste in 11 countries, the company has diverted billions of pieces of waste that are either upcycled or recycled into at least 1,500 products available at major retailers.
Center School's recycling program hopes to lessen their footprint and trash.
Everyone remembers those delicious juice pouches from Caprisun.
They were fun to drink, but did you ever stop to think what happens to them once they get thrown in the garbage?
Usually they end up in a landfill, and Chelmsford is doing its part to help.
Through working with TerraCycle, a company that has found a way to recycle materials that traditionally are non-recyclable, trash from the town that was previously unrecyclable no longer needs to end up wasting away in a landfill.
Since so much emphasis is placed on recycling at this year’s camp, the church found a program called TerraCycle to help.
According to its website, the purpose of TerraCycle is to “eliminate the idea of waste by creating collection and solution systems for anything that ends up in our trash today.”
During the camp, children will collect old toothbrushes, Capri Sun packages, old ink pens, and chip bags and give them to Greenway Medical, which has an established program. Greenway will then give the items to TerraCycle which will then write a check back to a nonprofit organization of their choice.

Do something good for the planet and your neighborhood Friday. It’s as simple as donating your trash. Yes, you heard right. Trash.
Since October, Newtown Elementary School has been participating in TerraCycle recycling. The school is holding its first of two TerraCycle recycling summer collection days on Friday.
TerraCycle, headquartered in Trenton, N.J., specializes in making consumer products from, well, trash. For example, the company makes bags from Capri Sun pouches, and other products from chip bags, plastic baggies, candy wrappers, etc.

TerraCycle is an awesome company that is reducing waste by finding creative ways to use materials that most of us would think of as garbage.
You know the saying “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.
Spending time outdoors makes me hungry. That’s why picnics were invented. Who wants to have to go back INSIDE when you’re having so much fun OUTSIDE!?
We have a cute picnic basket that, frankly, needs to see more sunlight. However, since it’s not insulated, I can only use it for quick trip-to-the-park picnics. For longer trips, I use an insulated cooler. Terracycle, Inc. sent us a roomy Ozark Trail 36 Can Cooler with Removable Hardliner.
This particular cooler has a special hardliner – it’s made by Terracycle out of recycled Frito-Lay chip bags! And, it’s antimicrobial (no clue how that happens, but true!).
The Ozark Trail Cooler from Terracycle has zipper and mesh pockets front and side pockets, as well as a 3″ expandable top for dry storage, so you don’t have to pack just cans. The 36-can size is perfect to hold one lunch for our family – we sit it between our seats, and I can grab snacks as we go and zip it back up! If we happen to stop, we don’t have to unpack the whole car, I just lift out the cooler and we’re ready to eat!
Are you excited for back-to-school?! I am just so excited. Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or products that cannot be recycled into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value. This is a fairly new term in our increasingly eco-conscious world. Upcycling embraces uniqueness and creativity because upcycled products are truly one of a kind.
One of the pioneers of upcycling is
TerraCycle. They are taking wasteful materials such as drink pouches, chip bags, and tooth brushes and making them into a variety of neat consumer products. TerraCycle’s products are available through a number of retailers including Wal-Mart and Target as well as online.
The goal of TerraCycle is to help eliminate waste. They run their own collection programs at many major retailers, theatres, stadiums, and restaurants. In fact, you can sign up on their website to donate certain waste items to TerraCycle and they’ll pay the shipping to get it from you and donate money to a charity of your choice.
