Schools in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut and Maryland can compete March 16-June 30 for a new playground made of completely recycled material by collecting toothpaste tubes, caps and outer packaging; floss containers; and toothbrushes for the TerraCycle Recycled Playground Challenge
Today, TerraCycle is considered a leader in waste collection, repurposing it into innovative materials and products. With over 40 billion packages with the TerraCycle logo on it, they’ve diverted over 2.5 billion units of waste from landfills around the globe.
Copper River Salons were already running a TerraCycle program to collect and recycle their personal care and beauty waste. At TerraCycle we provide free recycling programs (sponsored by various brands, like in this case Garnier) where we provide free shipping (via UPS) for your waste and will then reuse, upcycle or recycle the collected waste into something new.
Terracycle has been making it easy for people and businesses throughout North America to reduce consumer product waste through its dozens of “Brigades” that collect previously non-recyclable or hard to recycle waste
Terracycle’s Zero Waste Box program is being marketed to factory managers in a bid to encourage employees to recycle items commonly used on factory floors, including ear plugs and hair nets.
Timbuk2 and TerraCycle are putting the “messenger” in “messenger bag.” The The San Francisco-based carryall-maker has teamed up with the New Jersey upcycler to transform decommissioned U.S. Postal Service mail bags (circa 1960-1990) into tough-as-nails stuff-shleppers ready to take on rain, snow, sleet, and gloom of night—and not necessarily in that order.
The company’s new bag design uses vintage US Postal Service mail bags, sourced by TerraCycle, for the raw material, which then get turned into a high quality messenger bag capable of hauling all of your work and play gear comfortably.
The program is called the Drink Pouch Brigade and is put together by Kraft Food’s Capri Sun and the recycling company TerraCycle, which is entering its sixth year and has collected nearly 200 million pouches nationwide.
