School Recycling Program Benefits Needy Families

The program was spearheaded by “Leaders for the Future,” a group of sixth-graders at Lawrence Intermediate School. The “Leaders for the Future,” a group of sixth-graders at Lawrence Intermediate School (LIS), spearheaded a recycling program at Lawrence Intermediate School. The students began the planning stages in January during a two-day character education program, sponsored by State Farm Insurance. Students developed a plan of action to reduce the amount of trash from the cafeteria and individual classrooms by setting out bins in the lunch room to collect Capri Sun drink pouches and Frito-Lay chip bags. The leadership group packaged the recycled goods and sent them to TerraCycle in Trenton, N.J.

Free samples of L'Oreal Garnier shampoo, conditioner to be offered at Walmart stores

L'Oreal-owned brand Garnier is launching a new shampoo and conditioner by giving free samples at two El Paso Walmarts this weekend. Garnier Fructis Pure Clean shampoo and conditioner will be given to anyone who drops drop off their beauty/personal products. The events will be Saturday at the Walmart at 4530 Woodrow Bean, and Saturday and Sunday at the Walmart at 9441 Alameda Ave. Fashion, beauty and image expert Patricia Sturla will make a special appearance from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Alameda Walmart. Sturla is part of Garnier's new mobile marketing program called The Cleaner Greener Tour, in partnership with TerraCycle, which educates consumers to think differently about waste, and to learn simple ways to make a positive impact on the environment. The new shampoo and conditioner are biodegradable.

Garnier Fructis Styled Participants of the ‘Do You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star’ Contest

Garnier Fructis joined Atlantic Records and Rolling Stone Magazine for the ‘Do You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star’ contest to promote the Pure Clean products. Garnier Fructis suggested U.S. citizens to vote for the best rock musician on the Rolling Stone web-site or on the Facebook page. In addition users were welcome to upload their own photos in a rockstar-like fun photo frames, the most voted pics won free concert tickets. With its eco-product line Pure Clean, Garnier Fructis provided all the hair-style stuff for the Garnier celebrity stylist Peter Butler to trim the contestants’ heads in a special Green Room. Previously, Garnier Fructis in collaboration with Terra Cycle also invited customers to join its nationwide 7-city tour and bring the recyclables for repurpose.

At Enatai Elementary, a year of accomplishments

Helping the environment, animals and people in Bellevue community – these were the accomplishments celebrated by 25 student council Leaders and their parents at Enatai Elementary School on June 13. Since November, the third, fourth and fifth grade students set up donation stations in school to collect more than 200 items for Hopelink, collected more than 40 items for the Humane Society and made cars to send to sick children in the hospital on Valentine's Day. They also set up a juice pouch recycling program with TerraCycle to help reduce waste and raise money for charity with the 1-2 cents raised by each pouch.
