While not going to the lengths of sharing payroll and stock-option details like SumAll does, recycling company TerraCycle also takes an unguarded approach with its employees.
Albe Zakes, TerraCycle's global vice president of communication, believes transparency aligns with the company's socially responsible beliefs, and said it has proved a strong motivating tool.
In addition, the Riverkeeper Sweep is made possible through cooperative partnerships with dozens of municipalities, state agencies, clubs, organizations, scout groups, businesses and individuals who help to organize individual events. We are pleased to partner with
TerraCycle, which will provide waste collection for some of the hard-to-recycle materials collected during the Sweep; and Green Guru Network, a media sponsor. Information about local partnerships and participants is available on request.

The students produced and directed the video under the category, “Collect, Store, and Ship.” It shows exactly how recycling takes place in the middle school. The process takes considerable time, so the students were very excited to learn that their video was chosen as one of six finalists in the first-ever TerraCycle Green Globes contest.

Ohio's Akron Marathon has earned certification from the The Council for Responsible Sport for its efforts to lower the race’s environmental footprint.
The race joins a
small but growing number of sporting events to be officially recognized for their eco-friendly and community-building efforts.
The
Council for Responsible Sport sets environmental and social responsibility benchmarks races can meet to earn certification. There are four levels, from certified, which Akron received, to evergreen. With Akron’s “certified” award, it became the 50th event to receive the standard since the council launched its certification program in 2008.
