Here they are at the Hoeffner Science and Technology on East Stroudsburg University campus. The cigarette butts were picked up on campus and also at Pocono Medical Center grounds. Two huge garbage bags were collected. Center Cigarette butts were picked up on campus and will we taken to TerraCycle which will recycle the butts and the money raised, will go back to the Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center. Cigarettes that are not disposed of properly can damage the environment by harming wildlife and water systems.
For the month of April, Jane Ryan will be donating its juice pouch earnings to the children, staff and families of Sandy Hook Elementary School. They recently joined the Terra Cycle recycling program that was supported and encouraged by the school’s former principal. Recruit everyone you know to support this pouch collection.
Douglas MacArthur Elementary School has been named a Great Drink Pouch Derby winner by the New Jersey-based company Terracycle. Each day, MacArthur students recycle their drink pouches at school and send the pouches to Terracycle. Recently, MacArthur received a check for more than $1,700. During December, MacArthur sent in more pouches than any other location in Virginia and won the Terracycle Great Drink Pouch Derby for that month. The school was rewarded with bonus points to its account and now is in the running for a chance to be crowned the Great Drink Pouch Derby National Winner, worth 50,000 bonus points.
