Henkel, a manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and functional coatings, including the Loctite brand, is partnering with TerraCycle to become the first company to offer a recycling solution .....

Approximately 150 million pounds of strings end up in the landfill every year. However, with Playback, in partnership with TerraCycle, artists at this year’s XPoNential Music Festival presented by Subaru will now be able to recycle their used strings.

To properly recycle or dispose of such items, consumers must identify alternative recycling programs for the post-consumer waste. Local cosmetic business Rainwaters is collaborating with Coyote Howling Shop for a Cause and Terracycle to recycle waste.

An environmental organization installed 30 bins in the Village and in Old Montreal last month designed for smokers to throw out their cigarette butts -- which are then recycled. Every week, the Zero Butts Action Society collects the cigarette butts from the bins and ships them to TerraCycle to transform them.

Through the Adhesive Recycling Program, Henkel customers can purchase a postage-paid recycling box to fill with empty Loctite adhesive containers and send to TerraCycle for processing. TerraCycle will thermally treat the containers and turn them into new plastic products.

Pivot announced that the third season of “Human Resources” will premiere on Aug. 26 at  7:30 p.m.According the network, the series “chronicles the innovative global recycling company, TerraCycle, and its goal to eliminate all waste.” Previous seasons will continue to be available on iTunes, Amazon and Google Play.

Sen. Christopher ‘Kip’ Bateman, R-Somerset, New Jersey, told NewsWorks he was inspired by a recent visit to Trenton-based recycler TerraCycle, which collects items that are generally difficult to recycle into new items. “I saw recycled toothbrushes,” Bateman said in the interview. “I saw recycled prescription containers, recycled records. I mean, you’d be amazed at how much can be recycled, and, obviously, it’s good for the environment.”
