ELIMINATING THE IDEA OF WASTE®

TerraCycle in Forbes Magazine

What excites me is all the businesses using innovation to make our world more sustainable. Forward-thinking companies like Terracycle where they upcycle industrial scrap into durable consumer products are fundamentally challenging the old manufacturing mindset of “make it, use, it, chuck it.”

TerraCycle Summer Six Flags Promotion

Summer is here, and what better way to kick it off than to save some money and have a great opportunity to recycle with TerraCycle!  Recently they contacted me about a promotion that they are doing this summer, and I thought it sounded like a great way to have some fun, and as I mentioned save some money and recycle!

Six Flags discounts

Polly-O and TerraCycle have partnered with Six Flags for a summer recycling drive at Six Flags parks across the United States. Visitors are encouraged to participate by bringing their specially marked Polly-O String Cheese and Twists packaging to the park entrance to receive a discount on their tickets. The packaging will be sent to TerraCycle to be recycled into eco-friendly products.

Garnier Cleaner Greener Tour at Walmart

This week, Garnier’s Cleaner Greener Tour will be parked at Walmart just off Route 62/East Main Street in Fayetteville from Wed-Thur. Walmart shoppers can bring any and all hair care, skin care and cosmetic packaging to the tour vehicle to be recycled by TerraCycle and score some free samples of Pure Clean. Garnier is kicking off a packaging collection and recycling program with TerraCycle called the Personal Care and Beauty Brigade and announcing Pure Clean, a new biodegradable hair care line.

Cleaner Greener Tour Hits Fayetteville

Here at the City of Fayetteville we’ve been having a lot of discussions lately about diverting more “waste” from the landfill and turning them into resources through recycling. One of the problems that cities face is that product packaging often does not come in recyclable containers. With this in mind, cities are beginning to talk with package producing companies about “increased producer responsibility.” IPR is the idea that companies make a much more concerted effort to use recycled materials for their packaging in order to increase the market demand for those products and/or produce packaging that can be recycled through conventional markets. Below is an email from Terracycle’s PR person, Stacey Cusak, about an opportunity to support such an effort from Garnier and Terracycle. I have not been able to confirm or deny whether Stacey is actually related to one of my favorite actors John Cusak.
