The Terra Stone Plant Caddy and the Eco-Terra Watering Can will be on store shelves this spring. These are all great additions to the host of tools used by gardeners who want to do their part for the environment. Who could imagine that a granola bag could be turned into a watering can? Or, a drink pouch into a plant caddy? TerraCycle, the pioneering upcycling and recycling company, has three new products available for the eco-conscious gardener.

One of her favorite opportunities is speaking at elementary schools and sharing the simplicity of recycling. “When I’m talking to the kids, I usually get them to do something hands on so that they can go home and do it there,” she said. “I’m really into doing things with Capri Sun bags for example. So when they go home, instead of throwing away the Capri Sun bag, they say, ‘Mom, I want to make something!’”

Die Landbell AG, eines der neun Rücknahmesysteme in Deutschland zur Sammlung und Verwertung von Verpackungen, beteiligt sich an dem US-amerikanischen Unternehmen TerraCycl.e Das weltweit in 21 Ländern agierende Unternehmen hat sich auf das Sammeln, Recyceln und Wiederverwerten schwer zu recycelnder Abfälle, Konsumgüter und Verkaufsverpackungen spezialisiert. Seit dem Jahr 2011 ist es auf dem deutschen und schweizerischen Markt vertreten und wird ab 2012 auch in Österreich aktiv sein. Aktuell arbeitet TerraCycle bereits mit BIC, dem internationalen Hersteller von Bürobedarf, in Deutschland und der Schweiz bei der Sammlung gebrauchter Schreibwaren zusammen. Auf dem deutschen Markt will TerraCycle zudem mit Capri-Sonne zusammenarbeiten. Das Sammelprogramm für Trinkpacks soll in den nächsten Wochen anlaufen.

A temporada de verão 2012 termina este mês. No Brasil, foi possível ver que, nos 9200 km de costa brasileira, milhares de pessoas curtiram o sol e usaram protetor solar. Mas nem todo mundo sabe que ao final do verão, cerca de 16 milhões de embalagens de protetor solar são consumidas anualmente. É uma quantidade grande de resíduo plástico que pode ficar depois que o sol vai embora. Foi pensando nisso que Coppertone lançou o projeto Brigada Coppertone Protetores do Planeta, um programa que coletará embalagens de protetor solar vazias (independentemente do tamanho e da marca) e transformará em matéria-prima novamente, substituindo material virgem e evitando que mais recursos naturais sejam extraídos. Essa matéria prima poderá ser usada na produção de novos materiais a base de plástico.

El IES “ Virgen de la Esperanza” pone en marcha el programa “ Recapacicla” de la Junta de Andalucía, a través de proyectos interdisciplinares en las Aulas Avance, Diversificación y Bilingüismo, dedicando los centros de interés de este trimestre a la Ecología, Reciclaje y Medio Ambiente y campaña en todo el centro. Igualmente, ha sido seleccionado, a través de los proyectos presentados, para una visita gratuita a la Planta de reciclaje “ Sur de Europa” de Los Barrios el día 22 de Febrero, y a la celebración del Día del Reciclaje en el centro el 5 de Marzo, contando este día con talleres medioambientales, proyección de audiovisuales y recorrido expositivo sobre el tema.
