Making Earth Day Matter!

Well, we are super stoked to have been able to team up with Tom’s Of Maine (I’m a member of their Goodness Circle, remember) and TerraCycle, an incredible company that collects unwanted waste products (ie trash) and turns them into awesome new, usable items. Working together like this last year, Tom’s and TerraCycle kept 11,000 pounds of personal care packaging out of landfills, and that’s just the beginning (learn more here).

Let’s Recycle and Upcycle for Earth Day

Earth Day is in April and this special day always reminds me to step up my game when it comes to being environmentally conscious. A simple and easy way to be green is to buy products produced by responsible and sustainable brands like Tom’s of Maine. Since it’s creation in 2012, participants in the Tom’s of Maine Natural Care Brigade®with TerraCycle® have kept more than 295,000 pieces of waste out of landfills.

They make a lot more than deodorant, but I love Tom’s of Maine for several reasons. They’re passionate about being a positive impact in the world from volunteerism to renewable energy and the company:
  • Is cruelty-free and uses vegetarian ingredients with no artificial additives.
  • Uses wind energy, recyclable materials and recycles even within the warehouse.
  • Donates 10% of yearly profits to nonprofits committed to human, health and environment.
  • Is partnered with recycling leader TerraCycle.

A Wisconsin dental practice participates in an oral care product recycling program designed to keep toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes, floss containers and mouthwash containers out of landfills.

Sponsored by Tom’s of Maine® and TerraCycle®, a company that provides free waste collection programs for hard-to-recycle materials and turns them into green programs, the Tom’s of Maine Natural Care Brigade® provides the practice's patients and the general community with an easy way to recycle oral health products. Toothpaste tubes and caps, toothbrushes, floss containers, mouthwash bottles and caps, deodorant containers and soap packaging, regardless of brand, are accepted.
