Hasbro continúa su viaje de sostenibilidad y se alía con TerraCycle para ofrecer un programa de reciclaje como apoyo a la economía circular.
En Estados Unidos arranca un programa piloto que recicla juegos y juguetes de Hasbro, con el propósito de reducir la huella ambiental de los productos y empaques. La recolección y reciclaje de estos productos permitirá alargar su ciclo de vida a través de su transformación en nuevos objetos de entretenimiento.
Durante el programa, los consumidores pueden recolectar y enviar sus objetos de Hasbro, como juguetes de plástico y electrónicos, figuras de acción, muñecas, felpa y más. Para participar
sólo se tiene que registrar, después solicitar una etiqueta de envío y TerraCycle se encargará de clasificar y reciclar los productos.

Por su parte, Tom Szaky dijo que la experiencia de TerraCycle en el reciclaje de productos “es perfecta para una empresa como Hasbro que se compromete a reducir el impacto ambiental de sus productos a lo largo de su ciclo de vida, incluido el final de la vida útil”.
Hasbro enfoca sus esfuerzos ambientales en tres áreas clave: reducir los impactos ambientales de productos y empaques, asociarse con proveedores para abastecer; distribuir productos de una manera ambientalmente consciente y minimizar la huella ambiental de las operaciones.
También, Hasbro usa un 100% de energía renovable y es neutral en emisiones de carbono en todas sus operaciones en Estados Unidos, ha alcanzado el 99% en todas las operaciones globales. Además, la compañía persigue un conjunto de metas ambientales para 2025 en todas sus instalaciones como: Reducir los desechos que van al vertedero en un 50%; reducir el consumo de agua en un 15%; reducir el consumo de energía en un 20%; y reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) en un 20%
More workshops, art installations, food vendors and new sustainability efforts are in the works for both campers and day-trippers to this year’s River & Sky music and camping festival, which takes place July 20-23 at Fishers' Paradise near Field.
The festival, set on the Sturgeon River, is known for featuring some 40 emerging Canadian bands over its four days, including this year’s headliners Wintersleep, Timber Timbre, PUP and Weaves.
But River &Sky also works on ways to present sustainable arts, and to feature art installations by visual artists and the creations of local crafters, as well as run workshops appealing to a wide variety of ages and interests.
"This year, not only do we have an amazing line-up of musicians but we also have an amazing line-up of workshops that are River & Sky inspired,” Melanie Alkins, a vendor, crafter and workshop lead for the festival, said.
This year the festival has more than 20 sessions on 14 topics. They are all free for attendees. Fan favourites, such as puppetry with Kimberley Howe, morning yoga with Liz O’Hara and a movement workshop with Shannon Falconi of North Bay’s Global Groove, are returning.
New skills-based workshops include fixing your bike with Stefan Poliquan of North Bay’s The Wheelhouse; canoe trip tips and tarp-tying with Carissa Bender and Meghan Walsh; how to string your guitar and proper intonation with Marc-André Dubosq; and taking a herbal walk with Miranda Martel to learn about edible plants.

Global beauty company, L’Oreal have teamed up with recycling company TerraCycle to give your used beauty and personal care products a whole new lease on life through the free recycling program.
Cosmetics company L'Oréal Australia has developed an initiative labelled Beauty Products Recycling Program which offers consumers free collection and recycling of used product packaging.
Henkel, a manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and functional coatings, including the Loctite brand, is partnering with TerraCycle to become the first company to offer a recycling solution for anaerobic adhesives. Through the Adhesive Recycling Program, Henkel customers can purchase a postage-paid recycling box that they fill with empty Loctite adhesive containers and send to TerraCycle for processing. TerraCycle will thermally treat the containers and turn them into new plastic products.
Earthborn Holistic, a pet food company, is making pet food bags recyclable by teaming up with TerraCycle, an international recycling company, to create the Earthborn ReBorn Recycling Program. Pet food bags can be recycled at Appalachian Trails in Glastonbury and Agway of Ellington.
