Wellness Natural Pet Food has recycled 100,000 pet food bags
The pet food industry has been making strides toward a more sustainable future, and helping lead the charge is Wellness Natural Pet Food. The brand announced Nov. 1 that it has recycled 100,000 pet food bags through its free recycling program with TerraCycle.
Dietz Brothers Music's Free D'Addario Restring/Recycling Event
Local musicians are invited to attend a free recycle and restring event at Dietz Brothers Music in Manhattan Beach, CA on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM. Sponsored by D’Addario and TerraCycle, musicians can bring any old instrument strings for recycling and get their electric or acoustic guitars restrung with D’Addario NYXL or Nickel Bronze Acoustic strings. Old strings collected during the event will be recycled through Playback, D’Addario’s free, national recycling program.

Grants Scored For Cigarette Butt Recycling Cans
Sandi Smith, development and marketing coordinator for MCBP, said the organization will work with TerraCycle to recycle the butts. The company provides free shipping and donates a dollar to the Keep America Beautiful Cigarette Litter Prevention Program for every pound of discarded cigarettes that are collected.
Everything that happens when you give up single use plastic
Every single toothbrush ever used is still somewhere on our planet. It’s gross and completely avoidable. Replacing your plastic toothbrush with a bamboo, compostable one is an easy step toward making your bathroom a single-use, plastic-free zone, as is replacing any single-use plastic razors with stainless steel alternatives.
Unfortunately, there isn’t much in terms of sustainable packaging for cosmetics, and what’s available is often expensive. That said, try to find out if any of your favorite brands offer a refill program (plenty do, and normally at a discount), or whether they have a recycling service. Garnier, for example, has partnered with TerraCycle and DoSomething.org on their Rinse, Recycle, Repeat program which aims to keep empty bottles out of landfills.
