Sensible Portions Veggie Straws are a gluten-free, soy-free, nut-free, and non-GMO snack made primarily from potato starch, potato flour, corn starch, tomato paste, spinach powder, beet powder, turmeric, and salt. Sensible Portions collaborates with
TerraCycle, an organization that processes these types of materials on an industrial scale to turn them into a material that can be reused. Through a program called “snack brigades” helps consumers capture their used snack bags to get them to a TerraCycle facility.

Zeist - Vier maanden lang zo veel mogelijk lege huishoudmiddelen inzamelen heeft zich wederom geloond voor de Weggeefwinkel in Zeist. De winkel is namelijk eerste geworden bij de Frisse Lucht Wedstrijd! Daarmee heeft de Weggeefwinkel €300 euro gewonnen
De wedstrijd werd georganiseerd door Ambi Pur en TerraCycle en was een wedstrijd voor alle teams van het Huishoud Recycling Programma, een initiatief van beide bedrijven. Voor elk huishoudmiddel die de winkel opstuurt, ontvangt het een financiële bijdrage waarmee een goed doel van eigen keuze kan worden gesteund.
Inzamelboxen
De Frisse Lucht Wedstrijd duurde 4 maanden waarbij het de taak was om zoveel mogelijk lege huishoudmiddelen, zoals spuitkoppen en luchtverfrissers, op te sturen. Een van de manieren waarop de winkel dit deed is via speciale inzamelboxen in de winkel, waardoor iedereen in de omgeving een bijdrage kon leveren. Vorig jaar werd de Weggeefwinkel ook al eerste in de Frisse Lucht Wedstrijd. Dit jaar hebben ze dan ook hun uiterste best gedaan om de titel te prolongeren, met succes!
Energierekening
Initiatiefnemer Jantje Paasman van de Weggeefwinkel: “Met de opbrengst betalen wij de energiekosten van het hele pand. We ontvangen geen subsidie en werken uitsluitend met vrijwilligers. Winkelen bij de weggeefwinkel is gratis maar we maken wel kosten. Door het recyclen kunnen we Zeist een gratis sociaal centrum geven! Het zou mooi zijn als meer winkeliers ons mee kunnen helpen door ook een inzamelbox te plaatsen.”
Het Huishoud Recycling Programma
Het Huishoud Recycling Programma is een gezamenlijk initiatief van Ambi Pur en TerraCycle. Hiermee sluit het programma aan bij een reeks recycleprogramma’s die TerraCycle wereldwijd biedt. Dit programma maakt het mogelijk om verpakkingen van huishoudmiddelen te recyclen en bovendien iets te schenken aan een zelfgekozen goed doel. Inmiddels zijn er verspreid over heel Nederland teams actief die op deze manier een concrete bijdrage leveren aan het milieu en de maatschappij. Alle ingezamelde verpakkingen van huishoudmiddelen worden op innovatieve wijze verwerkt tot nieuwe duurzame grondstoffen en producten.
Naast lege huishoudmiddelen, zamelt de winkel ook pennen en snoepverpakkingen in via respectievelijk het BIC Schrijfwaren Recycling Programma en het Fruittella Snoep Recycling Programma van TerraCycle.
