A recycled garden grows in Queens.
Or at least it could, once the winner of a competition among local schools — including 13 in Queens — is announced.
GoGo squeeZ, which manufactures portable applesauce snacks, has partnered with recycling company TerraCycle and the school food program Action for Healthy Kids to present the 2018 GoGo CareZ Garden Giveaway.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — The Live Like Coco Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on helping kids in the Santa Cruz area grow up healthy and pursue their dreams, is offering the community a way to recycle used art supplies through TerraCycle’s Zero Waste Boxes for pens and markers.
The foundation works with TerraCycle through the Tom of Maine’s Natural Care Recycling Program.
The mall at Union Station has steadily gone from a mostly-forgettable collection of stores and the Barnes and Noble (which was awesome and which I still miss) to a really great collection of stores in a short time. In the short span of a year, we’ve welcomed Warby Parker, Sugarfina, Carpe Librum,
Magnolia Bakery plus the
VR Arcade in the lower level, which may not be a store but which is delightful and cool. Last Saturday, September 29,
L’Occitane re-opened next door to Magnolia Bakery– in the space formerly occupied by Nine West.
A new C-TRAN program will prevent thousands of discarded cigarette butts from going into landfills. Instead, they’ll be recycled.
In late August, C-TRAN began gathering all cigarette butts collected at Vine station receptacles and sending them to TerraCycle, a global, New Jersey-based recycling company that specializes in hard-to-recycle waste. Once received, the cigarette butts are separated by composition and melted into hard plastic. That material can then be used to make new recycled industrial products, including plastic pallets, according to TerraCycle. Any remaining tobacco and ash is recycled as compost.

For some reason, I always think I’m going to have time to catch up on things in the next season. Then that season rolls around and it seems like it’s the busiest one yet. With fall we started the school routine back up and along with school comes all the other activities that go along with it from swim lessons to soccer practice. I often have healthy snacks prepared for in between to hold them over but I often love to provide them with treats that I know they love.
Entenmann’s Little Bites Muffins are one of their favorite on-the-go snacks.
Recycling hazardous waste like fluorescent light bulbs isn’t just for progressive organizations; for many materials it is required by law. But how does an organization prove to their customers and enforcement agencies that they are in compliance? A Certificate of Recycling from a reputable waste handler is the answer. In simple terms, a certificate of recycling documents the amount and type of waste that is recycled by an organization and is proof that your organization is compliant with the standards set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Terracycle recycles "nonrecyclable" waste in 20 countries.
In simple terms, a certificate of recycling documents the amount and type of waste that is recycled by an organization and is proof that your company is compliant with the standards set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). While valuable, the benefit to your company doesn’t stop with government compliance.
On a recent weekend, Laura Owen of Sadorus did a 1-mile warmup run with her dog along a country road next to a cornfield, plastic bag in hand. In just 15 minutes, Owen filled the bag with trash, mostly beer cans and large plastic and foam drink cups.
"I usually don't pay that much attention to what's there, and sometimes if the ditches aren't mowed, it's hard to see what's in there. I was really surprised at how much trash we found," she said.
