Why is upcycling good for the environment? Everytime you donate your empty Kenco Eco Refill packs to Terracycle you are stopping that pack from going to landfill. If every coffee drinker in the UK switched to Eco Refill and then upcycled the pack, wed reduce the amount of waste send to landfill by 26 thousand tonnes per year.
Ella’s Kitchen has teamed up with TerraCycle to upcycle the pouches. No extra waste! The pouches are super portable and you can squeeze them right into your child’s mouth.

Upcycling is a term that up until recently has been an unfamiliar term to the general public. That is, until Prince Charles recently brought it into the spotlight, via an old Aston Martin, and a centuries old shipwreck.
Another plus point is that Ella's Kitchen have a partnership with
Terracycle to encourage mums and dads to 'upcycle' their used baby food pouches (the recent trend for which does my head in when I have my green hat on). You can read more on their website.
Terracycle wіll аlѕο donate 2p fοr еνеrу pack returned tο a charity οf уουr сhοісе. Sο іn effect іtѕ a way οf fundraising whіlе recycling; youre turning garbage іntο gold οr trash іntο cash!
Danone has launched a scheme that allows schools and charities to receive 2p for every Danone yogurt pot that they collect. The returned pots will be made into items such as plant pots and rubbish bins.
We’d love you to save all your used pouches and pack’o'snacks and send them – free of charge – to TerraCycle. And not only just Ella’s packaging… you can also send TerraCycle any other brand of baby food pouch in the same envelope! You could maybe get together with a group of friends or other parents at your little one’s nursery or school to start collecting.
In particular, she cited the "upcycling" firm TerraCycle as an example of a company who used social media in order to publicise its activities and green credentials. The firm recycles rubbish collected from schools and other public institutions and turns them into items such as recycling bins, fences and insulated coolers.
Companies should not "lose light of the consumer perspective...and so they get insight into what the consumer is thinking about when it comes to sustainable packaging", she added.
Terracycle recycles the trash you Freepost them and makes products out of them. They will donate a small amount of money to a non-profit organisation or school of your choice for every bit of rubbish they receive. When we mean trash, we literally mean trash.
