TerraCycle uses these disposable urns which they put in key locations downtown where people discard their cigarette butts.

There is a new program in Grand Rapids that helps to keep the city clean by recycling cigarette butts... The butts get sent to a company called TerraCycle, which turns the butts into plastic pellets that can be made into a variety of products.

The company doing the recycling is a global company called TerraCycle which just installed sixty-two cigarette receptacles as well.

Staples Canada announced today the winners of the 2016 Superpower Your School Contest. The contest, held in collaboration with Earth Day Canada, was open to publicly-funded elementary and secondary schools across Canada and ran from December 3, 2015 to January 29, 2016. Almost 630 schools submitted entries detailing their environmental initiatives. Ten schools, two from each region, have been selected to receive $25,000 worth of technology products each.

Lansdowne Place is like a village without housing, with an infrastructure system to match. The mall is home to more than 100 retailers and fast food outlets, a department store and the city's biggest supermarket. Approximately 1,000 people clock in for work every day. It is also, and this might surprise those who equate shopping malls only with consumerism and rampant consumption, greener and more environmentally aware than most communities.

Students at A.G. Baillie Memorial School have done all that in a project involving the collection of certain plastic materials that, for various reasons, typically don’t get included in our recyclable bags at home. Their efforts even placed them among finalists in a national contest sponsored by the Febreze company and run by TerraCycle.

Taking a look at Memorial’s smoking ban a few years later. In 2013, Memorial University took a step similar to many other universities across the country to curb the menace that is smoking on campus. Armed with posters bearing catchy slogans and the removal of ashtrays, on August 1, 2013, smoking became officially banned at MUN.

A.G. Baillie Memorial School is one of the top 20 finalists in the Febreze Frenzy Contest, a nationwide recycling contest sponsored by Febreze and run by TerraCycle. The location is one of the top collectors of traditionally non-recyclable air and home care packaging waste, such as trigger heads from spray bottles. By participating in the contest, they are not only reducing the amount of local landfill waste, but are eligible to win a share of $5,000 for a charity of their school.

Mountain Vista Veterinary Hospital has been selected as a new recycling drop-off point for all air and home care packaging, which will be delivered on a regular basis to TerraCycle Canada. They are asking the people of Collingwood to bring them as much of this waste as possible, both to ensure it’s diverted from local landfills as well as to help in their efforts to win the nationwide Febreze Frenzy Contest. The contest, back this year after a hugely successful run in 2014, is part of TerraCycle’s innovative collection-and-recycling program called the Air and Home Care Recycling Program, which enables any brand of air-freshener cartridge or home-cleaning packaging to be recycled — anyone in Canada can sign up, and all are welcome to participate in the contest, running until the end of April.
