ELIMINATING THE IDEA OF WASTE®

Natural Habitat Adventures Creates World's First Zero-Waste Travel Adventure

For the July 6-12, 2019 departure of Safari America: Yellowstone Country, 14 travelers will join this pioneering endeavor in which Nat Hab’s goal is to divert (refuse, recycle, compost, upcycle, or re-use) 99 percent or more of all waste produced as part of Nat Hab-sponsored trip operations.* With the World’s First Zero-Waste Adventure, Nat Hab aims to fit all waste produced on the trip into a single small container at the end, nearly eliminating the need to send any materials to a landfill or incinerator.

‘Overboxing’ Becomes Enemy No. 1 in Amazon-Led Web-Shopping Boom

Miranda Legg, a senior at Winston-Salem State University, proved herself a credit to the school by winning a contest involving recycling and then speaking passionately about the environment when interviewed by the Journal’s Jennie Drabble earlier this week. As a result of her devotion, WSSU’s Simon’s Green Acre Community Garden at the school’s Enterprise Center will get a $30,000 facelift, and Legg will receive a $2,000 scholarship.

CLEANING UP SUMMER CAMPING FESTIVALS

#Festivalseason. For many music-lovers, it’s an escape for a weekend filled with celebrating music, dancing to good tunes, and a care-free state-of-mind. Unfortunately, thousands of people camping or day-tripping is a recipe for massive amounts of trash. It is a common scene to see campsites and venues abandoned at the end of a weekend riddled with food, clothing, and tents, and concert grounds trashed with glow sticks, beads, beer cans and cigarettes.
