Remember that car seat that has been taking up precious storage space for an eternity? Reality check: You're not going to get around to selling it if you haven't already. But hey, now you can finally
get rid of it! Target is bringing back its popular car-seat trade-in program that's good for the environment
and for your wallet.
Back in April, the mom-favorite retailer decided to stop parents from throwing their old car seats into the trash by taking them and upcycling them into new products. Over the past 100 years, humans have produced
almost 10,000 percent more waste and created massive landfills that are terrible for our health and environment. Everyone loved Target's idea so much that the company collected
more than a million pounds of car seat material, which were recycled into dozens of new products.
It was a brilliant idea the first time around in the spring when Target let parents trade in their old car seats for a discount on a new one. When little ones are growing like weeds, it honestly killed two birds with one stone. Not only do parents save money, but they also get to offload a bulky car seat that would probably take up precious storage space for way too long. All while actually doing something good for the environment — no wonder the idea went over like gangbusters. Parents loved Target's car seat trade-in program so much last spring that now the program is making another limited time appearance.
Good news, parents!
Great news Target fans, the superstore's wildly popular car seat trade-in program is making its way back to stores this month. When shoppers drop off an old car seat for recycling, they'll receive a 20% off coupon for their next car seat purchase, which includes eligible boosters, car seat bases, car seats and travel systems.
Guests can drop off the seats at most stores nationwide between September 10 and 23, and have until October 7 to redeem their coupons. You'll be able to find the recycling bins either in the baby section or near the front of the store. From there, you can locate a team member to get the 20% off coupon.
Target is giving us yet another reason to adore their stores.
Thanks to their new car seat trade-in program, parents can get rid of old car seats they can’t use anymore in exchange for a 20% discount on a new one.
Target totally hit the bullseye with their car seat trade-in program last spring. Now the retail giant is bringing it back between September 10 and and 23 for National Baby Safety Month.
Between September 10 and 23, Indianapolis area residents can recycle used car seats! In celebration of National Baby Safety Month, 1,700 Target stores nationwide and across Indiana are hosting car seat collection programs to help residents reduce household clutter without sending waste to landfills. All car seats collected in this program will be recycled through TerraCycle so that each component will see a second life.
