TerraCycle helps people recycle those hard-to-recycle items like chip bags, toothpaste holders, yogurt containers and more. It is TerraCycle’s goal to eliminate waste completely. More than 20 million people in 14 different countries have taken part in TerraCycle’s recycling programs, called “Brigades.” Each Brigade is a program that collects a certain waste and recycles it. It is FREE to send your waste in to many of the Brigades.
Eco-friendly cleaners have become more popular as people try to stay away from harsh chemicals, and now there's more good news: not only are the eco-friendly cleaners available, but the bottles are being made from recycled plastics and are also recyclable themselves.
Non-recyclable packaging is a major obstacle in creating a truly responsible line of soaps and cleaners for moms who want a safe environment inside their homes and out. Three leading eco-responsible brands, TerraCycle, Dropps, and Method are making serious headway by offering completely eco-friendly products with natural, non-toxic ingredients and newly recyclable packaging. Now families can use natural cleaners, reduce their waste production and earn money for their community at the same time!
Green laundry products are tough on stains and gaining share against the competition

What consumers are most excited about, it turns out, is ditching the bottle entirely. Maria Brous, spokeswoman for Lakeland, Florida-based Publix Super Markets, said the popularity of mono dose detergent tablets like Dropps is the most notable trend in stores. The mono dose concept certainly isn't new, but manufacturers believe now's the right time because the tablets are concentrated, convenient and eco-friendly. Dropps recently partnered with Terracycle to allow consumers to mail in their used cases for recycling.
I was contacted by Stephanie of TerraCycle who thought my readers would be interested in this program and I have to agree. Below is the text of a press release that provides all the information:
Green AND Clean: TerraCycle and Partner Brands Make Green Cleaners Recyclable
TRENTON, N.J., October 19, 2011 – Non-recyclable packaging is a major obstacle in creating a truly responsible line of soaps and cleaners for moms who want a safe environment inside their homes and out. Three leading eco-responsible brands, TerraCycle, Dropps, and Method are making serious headway by offering completely eco-friendly products with natural, non-toxic ingredients and newly recyclable packaging. Eco-friendly cleaners have become more popular as people try to stay away from harsh chemicals, and now there’s more good news: not only are the eco-friendly cleaners available, but the bottles are being made from recycled plastics and are also recyclable themselves. TerraCycle, a pioneering upcycling and recycling company, has partnered with Method soaps and Dropps laundry detergent to offer recycling for the soap refill packaging and laundry packaging, respectively. The Method Refill Brigade and Dropps Laundry Detergent Pouch Brigade close the loop between eco-friendly product contents and product packaging. Additionally, TerraCycle’s eco-friendly cleaners are all natural, packaged in recycled plastic, and the packaging is also recyclable.

We thought
Dropps Laundry Detergent was
just about perfect: The biodegradable pouches are a less wasteful alternative to plastic detergent bottles, and the phosphate- and chlorine-free formula is healthier for people and the environment. Still, we never knew what to do with the non-recyclable packaging--until now. Upcycling company, Terracycle, has formed the Dropps Laundry Detergent Pouch Brigade to collect used Dropps packaging and turn it into bags, toys, office supplies, and more, making Dropps the first zero-waste laundry detergent. Learn more at
terracycle.net.
Dropps laundry detergent is already a leader in the detergent industry in environmental awareness due to their lack of bulky packaging. Certified by the U.S. EPA Design for the Environment, their detergent packs simply dissolve in the washer and the only thing left is the lightweight outer pouch which until today was not recyclable by local collectors.
But, now that problem is gone because
Dropps has partnered with
TerraCycle to collect and recycle the plastic bags and make
Dropps a zero waste product. Recycling is easy because
TerraCycle offers free postage-paid shipping labels on their website and offers donations to charity for each pouch recycled. Learn more about

ARDMORE, Pa., April 19, 2011
ARDMORE, Pa., April 19, 2011 -- Dropps, the first laundry detergent product that's both convenient (toss-and-go dissolving pacs) as well as environmentally friendly (EPA Design for the Environment (DfE) certified), has partnered with TerraCycle, the international upcycling pioneer, to give consumers a 100% zero waste liquid laundry detergent choice. Until now Dropps pouches have been easy on the wrist, but not suitable for traditional recycling, despite being a fraction of the environmental footprint of giant plastic jugs. TerraCycle, which specializes in difficult-to-recycle packaging, is launching a new category in its popular Brigade® programs, the Dropps Laundry Detergent Pouch Brigade®, to make Dropps a 100% zero waste product, while earning greenbacks for charities and schools! |
