The school is competing in a contest with other schools across the northeast region of the country to win a playground composed of recycled oral care waste container through the "Recycled Playground Challenge" sponsored by TerraCycle, Colgate and ShopRite.

Canajoharie Elementary School will earn one 'Playground Credit' for each shipment of empty toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, and floss containers sent to TerraCycle by the students and teachers, and one credit for every online vote cast for the school at www.terracycle.com/colgateshopriteplayground before June 12.
The contest, sponsored by Colgate, ShopRite and TerraCycle, gives “credits” to participating schools that send in their recyclable oral waste, such as toothpaste tubes and mouthwash containers. Schools can also earn points with every vote they receive online.

The grand prize winner of the challenge will win a plastic playground plus the installation for a $50,000 value. This playground will be made from recycled Colgate oral care products collected through the Colgate Oral Care Brigade program, a free recycling program operated by Colgate and Terracycle.
