Fonterra kicks off New Zealand yogurt pouch recycling program

Recycling company TerraCycle (Trenton, NJ) and Fonterra Brands New Zealand (FBNZ) have partnered to create the Fonterra Pouch Brigade, which is a free recycling program for Anchor Uno pouches or any other yogurt pouches. New Zealanders are now able to collect yogurt pouches and send them directly to TerraCycle, at no cost, where they will be upcycled into children’s pencil cases, or recycled into new products such as chairs and park benches.

Going the Distance

Eco-innovator TerraCycle (www.terracycle.net) charted new territory in the consumer goods industry in 2003 with one big idea: How can you eliminate the idea of waste? Back then, the company specialized in worm poop fertilizer packaged in old soda bottles. Its "upcycling" concept soon caught the eyes of consumer good companies small and large, like Honest Tea, Kraft Foods and Clif Bar, who had their own garbage issues to solve.

Second time around ... repurposed vinyl record from DwellSmart

I love re-purposing things. If you think about it, as a society we are extremely wasteful. We think nothing of tossing away things that we no longer want even when they're still useful. I hate thinking about all of the juice pouches, vinyl records, old CD's, and who knows what else just sitting there in the landfill for thousands of years. Terra Cycle is a company that takes many average household items and gives them a new purpose rather than allowing them to end up in the landfill.  DwellSmart is proud to partner with TerraCycle to provide customers the opportunity to purchase from the growing range of TerraCycle products.
