Once finished enjoying the wine inside, consumers can send the empty packaging to TerraCycle for free to give it a second life by recycling or upcycling it into park benches, bike racks, recycling bins and more.

To ensure all materials found in The Naked Grape wine box packaging – from the cardboard box to the inner bag and spout – are fully recyclable across the country, The Naked Grape partnered with TerraCycle, a company committed to keeping used wine boxes out of landfills by recycling or upcycling them into new, unique products.
The Naked Grape called on TerraCycle, a company which provides free waste collection programs for hard to recycle materials, to help ensure that the materials found in the wine box packaging, such as the box, the inner bag and spout, are fully recyclable across the country.
If you do, it just got a whole lot easier. TerraCycle is a great program which partners with manufacturers to make it easier to recycle or reuse product packaging. It's a great premise. You save used packaging, such as the wrap that some cheese comes in or the squeeze tube of baby food or the whole kit and kaboodle of a box of wine.
Companies like The Naked Grape works with TerraCycle by setting up the the Naked Grape Wine Box Brigade, a program that collects the box, spout and plastic bag for recycling thereby potentially keeping millions of pounds of plastic from ending up in landfills. Creative upcyclers have found unique uses for the bags in the box as well. They refill the bags with water and turn it into ice packs or fill it with air to use as a makeshift pillow. Not only is upcycling the package a great way to keep the environment clean but it also adds to the product's packaging useful lifecycle.
I’ll be there on October 4th and 5th representing
TerraCycle at The Naked Grape Wine station where you can come learn about how this wine is made and why their new 3 liter box wine package is fully recyclable from bag to box.
For this reason, I was pretty excited to try out
The Naked Grape‘s new
Terra-Cycleboxes (yes, boxes) of wine, the first of it’s kind to be 100% recyclable. I had always wondered about Terra-Cycle after seeing their markings on several boxes and I’m impressed about their methods and the sustainability they support.
The Naked Grape has a partnership with a recycling company named Terracycle that handles numerous “waste streams” of “non-recyclable or hard-to-recycle items” – such as M&M wrappers, handbags, shoes, cigarette waste, iPods, pens, Solo cups…and Naked Grape wine boxes.
The Naked Grape takes the reusability of boxed wine's packaging to a new level by allowing customers to send their emptied bags and boxes back to TerraCycle, who will recycle the packaging or “upcycle” it into coasters, wine journals, coin pouches and more. Customers can also join The Naked Grape Wine Box Brigade to raise money for charity with each returned box. So really, you're drinking for a good cause.
