Office Depot announced that, from April 17 through April 23, it is inviting customers to trade in their used writing instruments regardless of brand to any of its retail stores nationwide. In exchange for ten pens, pencils or markers, customers will receive a coupon toward a new product from Newell Rubbermaid Office Products. The collected instruments will be sent to TerraCycle to be turned into new office supply products ranging from trash cans to desk organizers.
Used flip flop collection: Shoppers at Old Navy stores can deposit their used flip flops in collection bins found inside any Old Navy store. TerraCycle, an international upcycling and recycling company, will then recycle the flip-flops into playgrounds which will be donated to communities around the country.
By bringing in these hard-to-recycle products to their local stores, consumers help keep waste out of their community landfills.

Office Depot is teaming up with Sanford Brands and TerraCycle Inc. to host a writing utensil recycling drive for Earth Month. Starting Sunday (April 17) and running through Saturday, April 23, customers can bring in used writing instruments -- regardless of brand -- to any Office Depot store nationwide.
