TerraCycle recycling projects — Between Sunday and April 23, shoppers can bring in 10 used pens, markers or mechanical pencils to Office Depot and receive coupon toward new pen products; also, April 22 through May 21, Old Navy shoppers can deposit used flip-flops in collection bins inside store; TerraCycle will recycle the flip-flops into playground material.

Old Navy and Office Depots across the nation have teamed up with  TerraCycle, to run Earth Month collections. Here are the details: The recycling programs at area Office Depot and Old Navy locations will be for pens and flip-flops. Pens at Office Depot and flip flops at Old Navy.

Office Depot is teaming up with Sanford Brands and TerraCycle Inc. to host a writing utensil recycling drive for Earth Month. Starting Sunday (April 17) and running through Saturday, April 23, customers can bring in used writing instruments -- regardless of brand -- to any Office Depot store nationwide.

In an effort to further reduce waste, TerraCycle, Inc. and Old Navy are joining a month-long drive to collect used flip flops and recycle them into four public playgrounds around the country. The Auburn community is encouraged to participate by stopping by an Old Navy store to deposit used flip-flops in designated collection bins. Starting April 22 and running through May 21, Old Navy shoppers can deposit their used flip flops in colorful collection bins found inside any Old Navy store. TerraCycle will then recycle the flip-flops into playgrounds which will be donated to communities around the country.

For Earth Month this year, upcycler and recycler TerraCycle has teamed up with Office Depot, Sanford, and Old Navy to offer recycling opportunities to spring shoppers and re-use difficult-to-recycle materials. Old Navy will be collecting used flip-flops at all locations between April 22 – May 21. The flip-flops will be recycled into rubber for playgrounds and donated to four communities around the country.
