A group of Nabnasset School students helped turn a bunch of trash into cash for their school system.
The students pitched in to help Sustainable Westford's unique "Upcycle It!" program, which turns nonrecyclable items like chip bags, candy wrappers, and drink pouches into backpacks and notepads -- among other items.
The group sends the trash to TerraCycle, a New Jersey-based company that recycles the items. In turn, the company agreed to pay two cents for each nonrecyclable item collected. The money is then donated to the school system.
