Jay Stream Middle School Earns Money From Recycling Program

TerraCycle Capri Sun (Kraft) Include USA drink pouch brigade
CAROL STREAM – Collecting and recycling drink pouches has become a phenomenon for Jay Stream Middle School students, so much so that students have earned money and prizes for their collections.
The students recently earned more than $2,600 for their school by collecting more than 18,000 drink pouches they use at home and in the lunchroom. Their hard work also put them at the second level in the TerraCycle and Capri Sun Drink Pouch Brigade. The Drink Pouch Brigade is a free recycling program that rewards people for collecting and sending their waste to TerraCycle to be recycled or upcycled, according to a press release by TerraCycle. The program began in September 2013 when Capri Sun added prizes for collecting certain amounts. Participants can now receive prizes in addition to the money they earn for each piece of waste collected, such as park benches, recycling bins and playgrounds, all of which would be made from recycled drink pouches. Drink Pouch Brigade has thousands of other schools across the United States participating in its program. To learn more about the program or sign up, visit www.terracycle.com
