Car seat recycling at Target in Northfield

Between Sept. 1 and 11, Northfield residents can recycle used car seats at Target, 2323 Highway 3 S. Fifty-six Target stores across Minnesota are hosting a car seat collection program to help residents reduce household clutter without sending waste to landfills. All car seats collected through this program will be recycled through TerraCycle. Residents should bring their car seats to their participating Target store and look for Target’s car seat collection box in the front of the store or in the baby and kids floor pad section. When a consumer turns in a used car seat, they will receive a coupon for 20 percent off the purchase of a new one. After the program ends, TerraCycle will separate the different components of the car seats and process them for use in other products.

When a consumer turns in a used car seat, he or she will receive a coupon for 20% off the purchase of a new one. After the recycling program ends, TerraCycle will separate the different components of the car seats (cloth elements, plastics, metals, etc.) and process them for use in other products. Au Texas, Target s’associe à TerraCycle pour recycler des sièges bébés

A l’occasion du Mois de la Terre, les initiatives, bien qu’éphémères, fleurissent tant du côté des ONG, des particuliers que des entreprises. Outre Atlantique, l’enseigne de grande distribution américaine Target lance un programme ponctuel de reprise et de recyclage des sièges bébés de ses clients dans 36 magasins du Texas, en partenariat avec TerraCycle. Spécialisée dans les engrais biologiques à base d’excréments de vers de terre, TerraCycle, entreprise privée américaine basée à Houston, a fait de l’upcycling (surcyclage en français) son cheval de bataille principal, en collectant des déchets peu ou pas recyclables et en les transformant en de nouveaux produits à valeur ajoutée. En France, TerraCycle a notamment collaboré avec Bic pour l’upcycling de ses stylos jetables en objets improbables tels que poubelles, arrosoirs ou bancs de jardins. Dans le cadre du programme « Target Take Back », l’enseigne Target a choisi de s’associer à TerraCycle pour collecter et recycler les sièges bébés de voiture, qu’ils soient abimés, inutilisables ou inutilisés. Les clients ont ainsi la possibilité de rapporter leurs sièges bébés, de n’importe quelle marque, dans un des magasins Target participant à l’opération. En échange, ils pourront avoir droit à une réduction de 20% sur un siège bébé neuf – une incitation à la consommation que l’on peut déplorer mais qui encouragera sûrement les clients à faire la démarche de rapporter leurs produits en magasins. Ces sièges collectés seront traités par TerraCycle : les différents composants (tissu, plastique, métal, etc), une fois séparés, seront utilisés pour donner vie à de nouveaux objets.

In celebration of Earth Month, 36 Target stores across Texas are hosting a car seat collection program to help residents reduce their household clutter without sending waste to a landfill. All car seats collected through this program will be recycled through TerraCycle so that each component will see a second life.
